Målet til stiftelsen Planet of People er å bidra til:
• felles kunnskap, forståelse og respekt mellom alle folkeslag;
• å motvirke rasediskriminering, etnisk, religiøs og politisk ekstremisme;
• å forhindre og stoppe væpnede konflikter;
• å utvikle fredsbevarende prosesser;
• å fjerne dobbelmoral i ekstern og intern politikk;
• å utdanne de nye generasjoner innen demokratiske verdier, medborgeraktiviteter og fredskultur;
For å gjennomføre disse formål vil stiftelsen:
• lage en ny flerspråklig, grenseoverskridende, internasjonal og offentlig Planet of People TV-kanal, for å sikre den globale samordningen av Planet of People videoprosjekt;
• arbeide fram et kulturelt, utviklende, nyhetsfokuserende og analytisk videoprosjekt. Det skal først og fremst være tilegnet historien bak og nesten alle aspekter av det daglige livet i alle nå eksisterende land, men skal også fokusere på de mest akutte globale problemer i de internasjonale sendingene av Planet of People's TV-kanal,og også spesielle sendinger av interesse i kanaler i alle land;
• lage en flerspråklig web-side, som fungerer som en utviklingsressurs for et visst antall temaer, og også som en plattform for å annonsere øvrige prosjekter i Planet of People og lignende aktiviteter i andre organisajoner;
• organisere sine egne aktiviteter med fokus på fordømmelse av krig og terrorisme, og støtte lignende aktiviteter i andre organisajoner;
• organisere årlige Planet of People verdensfestivaler, hvor hovedformål og utforming er å skape fred og fordømme krig og terrorisme;
• organisere regionale, nationale, grenseoverskridende og transkontinentale Planet of People maraton;
• organisere årlige nasjonale og internasjonale Planet of People konkurranser for studenter på gymnas, universitet og høyskolenivå med vektleggelse på kulturell og politisk historie som påvirker den internasjonale menneskelighet;
• organisere Planet of People reiseprogrammer, og holde hvert år sommerleker i forskjellige land for vinnere av de årlige Planet of People konkurranser;
• etablere et Planet of People senter for kultur og utdannelse som lager og implementerer sine egne utdannelse-og kultur program i samsvar med organisajonen Planet of Peoples konsepter og mål;
• støtte etableringen og koordinere aktivitetene til organisajonen Planet of Peoples lokale avdelinger, og Senteret for Kultur og Utdanning, så de kan arbeide verden over på nasjonalt og lokalt nivå med å implementere stiftelsens generelle konsept og mål, men også senterenes egne programmer i samsvar med nasjonale og lokale omstendigheter.

 Constitution
of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
The Governments of the States, Parties to this Constitution on behalf of their peoples declare:
That since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defenses of peace must be constructed;
That the wide diffusion of culture, and the education of humanity for justice, liberty and peace are indispensable to the dignity of man and constitute a sacred duty which all the nations must fulfill in a spirit of mutual assistance and concern;
That… the peace must…be founded, if it is not to fail, upon the intellectual and moral solidarity of mankind.
For these reasons, the States, Parties to this Constitution... are agreed and determined to develop and to increase the means of communication between their peoples and to employ these means for the purposes of mutual understanding and a truer and more perfect knowledge of each other's lives;
In consequence whereof they do hereby create the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization for the purpose of advancing, through the educational and scientific and cultural relations of the peoples of the world, the objectives of international peace...
Article I
Purposes and functions
1. The purpose of the Organization is to contribute to peace and security by promoting collaboration among nations through education, science and culture in order to further universal respect for justice, for the rule of law and for the human rights and fundamental freedoms which are affirmed for the peoples of the world, without distinction of race, sex, language or religion, by the Charter of the United Nations.
2. To realize this purpose the Organization will:
(a) Collaborate in the work of advancing the mutual knowledge and understanding of peoples, through all means of mass communication and to that end recommend such international agreements as may be necessary to promote the free flow of ideas by word and image;
(b) Give fresh impulse to popular education and to the spread of culture:
... By suggesting educational methods best suited to prepare the children of the world for the responsibilities of freedom;
(c) Maintain, increase and diffuse knowledge:
By encouraging cooperation among the nations in all branches of intellectual activity, including the international exchange of persons active in the fields of education, science and culture and the exchange of publications, objects of artistic and scientific interest and other materials of information;
By initiating methods of international cooperation calculated to give the people of all countries access to the printed and published materials produced by any of them.
With a view to preserving the independence, integrity and fruitful diversity of the cultures and educational systems of the States Members of the Organization, the Organization is prohibited from intervening in matters which are essentially within their domestic jurisdiction.
