ARD (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der offentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunkanstalten
der Bundesrepublik Deutschland – "Consortium of public-law
broadcasting institutions of the Federal Republic of Germany") is a joint
organization of Germany's regional public-service broadcasters.

Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen ("Second German Television") ZDF, is a public service German television channel based in Mainz. It is run as an independent non-profit agency established by joint contract between the German federal states (Bundeslander). ZDF is funded from a television licence and advertising. (ZDFdokukanal).

Arte (Association Relative à la Télévision Européenne ) is a Franco-German TV network. It describes itself as a European culture channel and aims to promote quality programming especially in areas of culture and the arts. Its facilities are located in Issy-les-Moulineaux near Paris, France, Strasbourg, France (headquarters) and Baden-Baden in Germany.

3sat is the name of a public, advertising-free, television network in Central Europe. The programming is in German, and is broadcast primarily within Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Kabel eins (literally: cable one) is a commercial television channel in Germany. It started business on February 29, 1992, as the Kabelkanal and belongs to the ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG. The channel is largely known for showing classic American films as well as series and documentaries.
