  CANADA

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), a Canadian crown
corporation, is the country's national public radio and television
broadcaster. The CBC operates two national broadcast television
networks – CBC Television in English, and la Télévision de Radio-Canada in French. Both sell advertising and are otherwise similar to privately owned networks, but offer more Canadian-produced programming. Most CBC television stations, including those in the major cities, are owned and operated by the CBC itself and carry a common schedule, aside from local programming. Even after the advent of commercial television and radio, the CBC has remained one of the main elements in Canadian popular culture through its obligation to produce Canadian based TV and radio programmes for mass audiences. The CBC has made programmes for minority interests in drama, performance arts, documentaries, current affairs, etc.

Documentary Channel is a Canadian English language category 1 digital cable specialty channel owned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), the National Film Board of Canada and four other independent producers. Its programming is devoted to featuring documentary films along with select television series.

History Television is a Toronto-based Canadian English language cable television specialty channel that presents programming about history and some non-historical programming of military, science and technology interest. It is owned by CW Media (a division of Canwest and GS Capital Partners). The channel operates two time shifted feeds: East (Eastern Time) and West (Pacific Time). History Television airs programs from various genres including documentaries, dramas, films, and human interest series.
