Rede Globo (English: Globo Network, better known as TV Globo,
Globo TV or simply Globo) is a Brazilian television network, owned by
media conglomerate Organizações Globo. Globo began its TV
transmission on April 26, 1965 in Rio de Janeiro, broadcasting in channel 4 of the VHF spectrum. The network is currently one of the largest in The Americas and the fourth largest in the world, watched by 80 million people daily. Globo is headquartered in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, where its news division is based. The network's main production studios are located at a complex dubbed Projac, located in Jacarepaguá, Rio's western area. In 2007, Globo moved their analogue operations to a purpose-built high-definition television production in digital broadcasting. Audience share – 40% - 60% (primetime). Rede Record (in English, Record Network) is a Brazilian television network. TV Record is its commercial name. It currently is Brazil's second largest television network. Broadcast area – São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Bahia, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Sul, Pará, Minas Gerais, Goiás. It is owned by Edir Macedo Headquarters in São Paulo (SP) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ).
Rede Bandeirantes (English: Bandeirantes Network), officially nicknamed Band, is a television network from Brazil , based in São Paulo. Part of the Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação, it aired for the first time in 1967. Currently, is the fourth TV network in Brazil by the ratings.
TV Gazeta was founded at 1970 in São Paulo. It's part of Casper Libero Foundation. Was the first tv station to broadcast in color, in Brazil (1970). In 1993 was merged with CNT (Central Nacional de Televisão) and São Paulo TV station was known CNT/Gazeta. In 2000 ended the partnership, and TV Gazeta was turned a network called Rede Gazeta.
TV Brasil is a non-profit public broadcasting television channel in Brazil launched on December 2, 2007 at noon. Although TV Cultura was the first public broadcasting channel launched in the country, TV Brasil is the first such, launched by the federal government. The lack of equipment restricted TV Brasil's launching to only three cities Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and Sao Luís. Its programming is, however, also available through its official website. Franklin Martins, the national secretary of social communication, has commented that TV Brasil's programming is not yet fully prepared and may suffer from late changes. Martins also said he wished to use public opinion polls to determine programming.
TV Cultura (Portuguese: Culture TV) is Brazilian television network seeded in São Paulo and a part of Fundação Padre Anchieta. It focuses on cultural subjects but also has sports as entertainment options. It was founded by "Fundação Padre Anchieta – Centro Paulista de Rádio e TV Educativas". The Foundation receives budget from private initiative, who maintains besides the TV Cultura, two radio broadcasting channels – Rádio Cultura AM and Radio Cultura FM. Inspired by their foundationers, the three broadcasting vehicles offers to the public general interest information and educational content – to promote educational and cultural improvement of the viewers. The TV programming listed in TV Cultura are very similar to Japan's NHK Public Broadcasting Corporation.
